We both have severe back issues..we found tuff blocks and thought it was a great option for people who can’t lift much..IT was!! So easy to use, very stable, perfect fit every time! It was our first time building a deck.. this product made it so easy and less hectic on our bodies. My husband was injured in Iraq and I, a car accident… I recommend this product to Everyone!

So far so good. Seems stable

So easy to use and convenient. Didn’t have to lug the big cement blocks home!

Use of Tuff Blocks make deck building manageable, even for a 69 year old DYI’er. Building two 15’ x 15’ decks for a completed project of 30’ x 15’. Tuff Blocks helps to make the project a breeze. Thanks.
Robert M.
Here is my 16x16 deck. 1st deck build showing from beginning to end. Use these however you like. The product is absolutely amazing. Was easy to use, rock solid, consistent and the deck is absolutely QUIET and awesome to walk on. Thank you Build Tuff. So happy with the results. Robert from Indiana
Robert S.
My deck is a work in progress. I found the TuffBlocks to be snug to the wood members but not too tight. I did not have to fight to put the wood into the slots. I will be using them again on a much bigger deck in the front of my house. They have worked great so far!!
David D.
Tough block makes it easy to renovate and create. By using Tough Block I avoided filling my space with landscape material to build the deck I needed. Great product, thank you !
Travis S.
I really love these tough blocks! I built a 16x16 storage shed and my 4x4 posts fit perfectly inside the blocks. This is a great product for building decks, elevated tiny home frames, or storage shed. Worth every penny!
beth d.
Used your product to build a wood shed here in North Georgia. Used 4 pallets joined and mounted on your supports. Off the ground and supporting three full cords of wood.
James M.
Light weight and sturdy. I used them to support a 200sq ft shed.
Mike S.
The blocked worked out great and so much easier to work with than cement blocks. Very happy
Nacomas P.
Just what I need for my ground level deck. Fast shipping.
Jean D A.
This is so versatile, it is unmatchable!
David A.
I haven't used it yet but it's just the height I needed.
Beryl R.
They worked as advertised. Very light and easy to maneuver, move, relocate, etc. WAY easier to work with than the concrete block type. The finished deck (sorry, no pics) feels solid as a rock. So it did what I needed it to do for a bit more than concrete but MUCH easier and less frustrating to use.
Brian M.
Framed out 560sq ft of ground level deck with these things - made life easy! My first big DIY project on my house and I couldn’t be happier!
K W.
Very easy to work with. We used Tuffblock to build a low deck over existing concrete. Looks great
wolfece
Excellent for our floating deck. Lightweight and the joist fit perfectly. Made it easy to get a 16’x12’ floating deck up in a day.
Mac1
I recently used these to build an 8x10 deck about 1.5 feet off the ground, 21 TuffBlocks in total. It took a full day with two working, but neither of us had specific deck building experience. It's easier than digging holes for cement footings but still pretty tedious getting 21 blocks leveled and 21 posts set. Overall it seems very sturdy.

This item made it a lot easier to built a platform for a shed on uneven ground. Would highly recommend vice using concrete blocks.
Radols
I was looking for dimension of the concrete post block when I seen these items online. I was very pleased with the product ease of use, size and weight compare to it counterpart the concrete blocks. I would highly recommend these post bases for all your deck needs. Just looking forward to when they are available in your stores.
Hound dog wood shop
These make deck supports so easy and low profile. I got 20 for a walkway and landing. So much easier than hauling concrete blocks.
Ronka
easier and lighter than cement blocks thats for sure! Only problem is they stick out kind of far under the deck.
EB1959
Perfect for leveling a Shed deck! We had to build our shed deck on a slop and could not dig holes for posts due to rock, these made leveling it very simple! I built the frame structure, then used 4x4 treated posts to level the framing out. Good size foot print. I screwed deck screws into the sides at bottom, and I also drilled holes in the flat plate part and installed 12" "spikes" to keep the structure from possibly sliding.
Adam G.
I had to use almost 50 tuff blocks for a 230 sq ft deck. It felt excessive and notching out the posts for almost every single support was a pain. I think some additional resources on how to work with tuff blocks AND cement footings would have been nice. I know you mentioned that it can be done, but for a DIYer, a full set of instructions would’ve been nice. It seemed like the east choice to just do all tuff blocks, but unfortunately, I was a lot of extra work.
Maria N.
We used these to build a floating deck near a pool on a slight slope. This was on an upper level of the property accessible only by a flight of narrow stone stairs. I very much appreciated the weight difference between these and concrete or concrete piers. Definitely a back saver. Installation was straight forward and much simpler that digging forms. The lower profile allowed us to keep a cleaner line to the decking and save materials. The online support was also appreciated.

I built a front porch using pressure treated wood with trex slats to cover an existing cement stoop. I enlarged the stoop from 6x4' to 12x8' and used the tuffblocks on the outer corners. As others have said, you can't butt them directly against walls, but I don't know that it matters. Decking can have an overhang past the frame, which is what I did to make the porch flush with the house. They don't fit the 4x4" tightly, which is good. I was concerned that after leveling the tuffblocks, I'd have a hard time pulling out the 4x4 to make any adjustments. I am slightly concerned about a frost heave, but since this is a floating deck, it won't cause any damage if it slightly lifts in the front. Our winters are also mild. The reason I used these as opposed to digging footers is because we have a sewer access pipe to the left of the porch and we've been unable to get a clear answer as to where that pipe is under the ground. It was safer to keep everything above ground when working so close to that pipe. Now, having completed the project, if it holds up I'll be extremely pleased. Not having to dig holes and pour concrete saved me at least a day of labor.
John Z.
This is an amazing product. I’ve built 7 decks using them. I build alone, so it saves time and energy. It also allows to easily build low decks. I’ll never use anything else.
Reiner K.
This product is so much better than the brittle concrete bases we were looking at!!!
Richard T.
Was looking to build a low floating deck and these were perfect. Simple to use, light and solid. I highly recommend them for building a deck.
David P
Worked perfect as expected. Placed directly on dirt ground. Used to support a 8X10 wood base that holds a shed of the same size.
Citylightsdt
Worked exactly as they said it would. Real sturdy and very good quality. Used them to build an 8 x 7 foot shed on a cement foundation. Just need to make sure surface is level however you use.
AWalkInTheWoods
We had planned to use concrete deck blocks until we discovered these items. They saved us an enormous amount of labor. We were building a tent platform in the woods and this saved us from lugging those heavy concrete blocks. I couldnt be happier!
Clark Sims
Tuff Blocks are very easy to use and every bit as solid as they are described to be. I will be using them again.
rich juzumas
I first used Tuff Blocks using them to build a small (6' square) deck to serve as a step up to an entry door. I had concerns about frost heaving causing movement and distortion but after three New England winters have detected none. The time and labor savings over alternative footing methods was very welcome. Last year my Covid project was to enlarge our outdoor living space, covering an existing patio and raising it with a 10' x 12' deck to match the height of an existing porch. The structure would have been designed differently using traditional footings to minimize digging and leveling concrete piers. Using span tables and TuffBlock's own recommendations I used a pair of blocks to provide ground support to each joist supporting the rim by short cantilevers. Using this method each joist had to be leveled from the fixed height of the porch deck, which is where the built in flexibility of TuffBlock to accommodate a 4x4 post came into play. In retrospect the hardest part of this project was finding the PT lumber I needed. With TuffBlock the structure can be easily modified or even removed in the future without permanent footings to deal with. Large decks would require caution not to exceed TB's load limits, but with appropriate design they can be the solution for decks up to about 16 x 16 and be incorporated in the design of larger, more traditionally supported decks, for example for changing levels.
JA
I am too old and too lazy to be packing around concrete blocks so these things are the perfect replacement. Got 'em holding up a deck and a couple small sheds and they work great.
Peter Mifsud
The Tuff Blocks were the most economical and time saving solution for our new deck, I would recommend them for any decking project
Kevin Fowler
Easy to use, quick to install. Two DIYers built a 10 x 19 deck in less than 7 hours from scratch. Used 4 x 4's to support joists, because ground was not perfectly level. Only way I see you could use the 2 x 4 slots would be if you were installing on a concrete pad or something PERFECTLY level.
Donna Attanasio
I used the BuildTuff supports under a small DIY shed over three years ago. They were much easier to use than sinking supports into cement. It took some work to get them seated firmly and level, but once we did, the rest of the construction went well. Most importantly, three years later, the shed hasn't budged an inch; it's still level and firmly supported. I'd certainly use these again.
Bryan Dailey
Easy to use and work well
DeckDan
Tuffblocks are awesome. I build about 15 decks a year , and these Tuffblocks make is so much easier than anthing I've used in the past.! Don't have to dig for 4x4 posts. Just level the ground and lay them down...super easy.
Marc B
Yes and my wife decided to build a deck on our own but we wanted to keep low to the ground. This saved us time and it's holding up perfectly. And yes they are pricey but well worth it.
EricM
I am the ultimate novice. I was so nervous to build my own deck but lot's of time on my hands. I was on the verge of buying the concrete blocks when I found these and watched the video. Could not have been easier. I had a contractor friend come buy and look at the tuffblocks before I did my job and he was blown away and is now using them for a deck he is building. Highly recommend!
Larry
All construction starts with a good foundation, I was going to go with the concrete piers which are heavy and not always cut very well, when I found these Tuff Blocks from Lowe. I bought 21 of the Tuff Blocks and I must say very impressed 4x4 posts, 1 inch lumber or 2 inch works great extremely light and durable. Your next construction project start with Tuff Blocks!!
rogerkk
easy to use. Used these for a footing base set on the ground for a 4x5 platform for our new above ground pool. used 2 against the pool wall and 2 stacked for the side away from the pool. fit a 4x4 good and feels sturdy.
Stanislav Havkin
A+++!!! Very ease to work !!! Like Lego !!! Recommended to everyone !!! Thanks !!! Stan.
Jason Hagan
This product definitely surpassed my expectations. I built a 10' x 10' deck and the time and money saved by using the Tuffblocks kept my project under budget. Shipping was extremely fast with zero issues. The next deck I am involved with I will definitely use Tuffblock again!
Sean Stahlhut
A great product. Made my life easy as a first time deck builder. We have very sandy soil in WA, so way easier than digging and using concrete. Very stable. Excellent cost effectiveness.
tim2
Great product, used as footing for 4 x 4 posts, for a deck about 18" off the ground butting up to a concrete wall. It makes leveling the joists easy. But you can't put support posts right beside the wall because the bottom surface is so wide it pushes the posts several inches away from the wall. Also if you use these to support posts at or near the edges or corners of your deck you are going to see them sticking out several inches beyond the edges of your deck. So I only used them to support posts on the interior of the deck and nail my joists to the posts. For the edges of the deck I had to use other supports because I didn't want black plastic sticking out beneath the edges. There is already a photo on here that shows them sticking out so I won't add another.
Donny C
Love them.lighter, stronger better then the concrete ones.
Bones
These are the best! Toss them down and build. Saved so much labor!
Lolo Bass
We are amateurs, and this product helped us build a professional-looking deck. Its easy to use, they are lightweight, and using them ensures we ended up with a sturdy deck.
Big O
Ordered them, they took a bit longer to get them than originally calculated but after I talked to someone, I got them quickly. They seem very sturdy and a great option for not digging holes.
James Ostapenko
High quality and easy to use product. Used >100 to build 50 sq/m deck. Deck is 18 months old, has not moved and looks great. BuildTuff team were amazing with their support, particularly discussing QTY and spacing for this huge project. Highly recommend!
Kizibits
These BuildTuff TuffBlocks make building a floating deck EASY! No digging required for your 4x4 posts. We built our deck on a slope and were able to cut our 4x4s to fit easily. Two of the joists along the back were right at ground level and we were able to use the TuffBlocks directly with them, too. Just had to level a small patch of ground for each of the blocks.
Nick A
Super simple to use. Installed my deck structure in an afternoon. Rock solid.
Gordon A. Moccio
My son who are novices built a 15x10 floating deck using Tuff Blocks, just layem down, level them with leveling sand or aggregate and you are good to go!
Dave P
I am building a ground-level deck off the back of the house, but not quite ON the ground, and I have a pretty good pitch heading away from the house. I didn't want to hang a ledger board at all, let alone so low to the ground, and I didn't want to dig piers at any point. So I opted for a floating deck. I hated the concrete block idea, then I found these - Eureka!!!. I have them supporting the horizontal 2X6 joists next to the house where I was able to get them low enough to fit under the doorframe, and I used them with a vertical 4X4 at the opposite end at about 10-12" high. You could probably drive a car onto my frame with these! (I supported every other joist as seen in the photo, before filling in the rest of the joists).
Drayton Sawyer
I used 12 of these Tuffblocks as footings for 4x4 deck posts on top of my concrete patio. I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of the Tuffblock, and would highly recommend them.
Webba
Very happy with the TuffBlock system. Customer service was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I asked several dozen questions over Facebook chat before purchasing. Blocks are light, sturdy, and work well as advertised. Would not hesitate to purchase again for my next build.
James Bennet
Worked great in place of concrete blocks that are heavy. No problem in using. Thanks
Sam D
I used these to make a 7 x 12 foot floating deck by my bocce court. They work great! Very stable and with much less digging and hassle than traditional methods. Because of their low profile the deck is very close to the ground, which works out great!
BK
These worked great for my ground level deck! Very easy to use & install, but be prepared because you need more of these than you would with standard footings. Still better than digging those holes and adding concrete!!
Jack Bibby
Brilliant design! Such a great alternative to deck blocks.
Chris D
Great product especially for low height decks. Easier to work with and still stable. No need to dig down into the ground to bury the pier block and for instances like mine where I was decking over a concrete pad height was going to be an issue and this solved it.
Brett
The TuffBlock Foundation System worked well!
peter spencer
We had an old concrete porch removed for restumping and I was working out the cost of a new timber deck. Stumps, timber, labour and other costs made it very expensive to replace, so I started looking for alternatives to stumps plus I want to do the job myself. I discovered TuffBlocks from buildtuff. I completed my deck, made it the same height a the front door and it was so simple to get the levels and they went straight onto a firm gravel substrate. They were so easy and simple to use I brought more to do a deck out the rear of the home. My front porch measured 5.7mts x 2.7mts, my rear deck is 4mts x 6mts and I am sure I will have pleasure doing the rear deck
David Smith
Amateurish builder that I am and not able to concrete, but looks great and makes me look like a professional. Easy to use and looks great.
Kate Meaker
These were so much easier to use than heavy block. I had to work around some immovable rocks and was able to be flexible in placing these to provide plenty of support. Would definitely recommend.
jerry
Wish these were around when I first built the deck many years ago. Refortified and shored up the sturdiness with these supports. Better than new now.
WildBill
For a deck on the ground or low deck (one foot or less, this product is ideal. The blocks can sit on the ground or dug-in a little to get the ideal height or level the deck. These blocks are a very good alternative to concrete blocks or poured concrete footers. The blocks support 4X4 vertically and 2X boards horizontally. I am very pleased with the TuffBlocks.
Bemiskendall
Easy and effective. Made a two tiered floating deck 20' X 20' without concrete, anchors, so simple it should be illegal. Solid as a rock also.
David
We were looking to put some flooring down in our basement, but didn't want to pour a foundation. These piers were just the ticket, keeping things off the ground and easily leveled with 4x4 shims.
Safetybay WA
Easy to use and very solid. Just had to get them level then all good.
mike
used these to support my deck, much better than try to lug concrete blocks under the deck
Paul D
Great product! Used these to support deck posts for a low-height project. Set them on some concrete/paver base, tamped them in, framed and leveled up, and attached the deck boards. A framing nailer really sped things up. Went through the winter fine (very little snow, and kept is shoveled off) and we are enjoying the deck now. Would definitely use again.
Dan
works great for supporting my perimeter of mobile home
JilleB
Lifesaver! This product saved me thousands of dollars! The floor of my 1800s barn kept washing out. We removed all the old wood and damaged beams. My carpenter was going to put new support beams in and replace the floor running 10-20k! I was convinced I could put a deck floor in there using cinder blocks. After researching this, I found Tuff Blocks. I ordered them and they were delivered quickly. I put some gravel from the driveway into the barn, tampered it down and laid the Tuff Blocks out. With some leveling we got the joists placed and screwed in the floor boards. It was a couple day job. Very easy and cost me about $900 in materials. The beauty is I can easily unscrew it and pull it up if we have another flooding issue. I couldnt be happier with it and I owe it to these fabulous Tuff Blocks!

I'm very proud at my first attempt at decking.

Thats two decks with the TuffBlocks. the one on the right, 10x12 done four years ago and the Christmas 2020 abutting left 10x8.5x7x9 special cut deck, supported entirely with these superbly designed, super tuff no digging support. If you are serious about ground level, NO Piling under structure, you GOTTA consider these TuffBlocks.
Steve
The low profile works and light weight well for many applications While keeping the wood off of the ground to reduce the probability of rot.
Dave Warner
These are great!!! So easy to maneuver and no digging is needed. If you need to move the TuffBlock you just easily scoot it over. Holds deck well and is Rock Solid.
James
High quality product and easy to use!
Mr. Nister
I'm almost done building my first deck. This product is exactly as advertised - just go to their website and you'll be impressed. My deck is in a wooded area. My original plan was to dig holes forfooters but this proved impossible because I did not want to disturb the root system of surrounding trees. Problem solved! Well made and beautifully engineered product.
Butch Sherman
16 x 16 36" to 65" height from ground worked amazingly and look forward to using them for walkways
BillT
I was looking for a replacement to traditional deck blocks. The weight and ease of transport of the tuffblock had me sold! I used these to build a large 20 x 20 deck over an old patio. The quality of these blocks is great and they work exactly as advertised. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to build a floating structure.
Troy Wheat
I used Tuff Blocks to build a deck around my pool Spring of 2020. They were easy to use with 4x4 posts and so far, are holding up well!

SOOOOOOOO much easier to work with than pier blocks. And since we wanted the deck to be low to the ground, it eliminated the need to dig the pier blocks into the ground..... 30 times!!! Fabulous!
